About MakerBritain
MakerBritain is an online marketplace operated by Alan Nicholls, a sole trader trading as MakerBritain.
MakerBritain provides a platform that allows independent Makers to offer their products for sale to customers.
When a customer purchases a product through MakerBritain, the individual Maker shown as the seller is responsible for the product and fulfilment of that order.
Using MakerBritain
By using MakerBritain, you agree to use the website lawfully and responsibly.
You must not:
- Use MakerBritain for fraudulent, unlawful or misleading purposes
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, accounts or systems
- Introduce viruses, malicious software or other harmful material
- Interfere with the operation or security of the website
- Use automated systems to scrape, copy or misuse website content without permission
- Impersonate another person or provide deliberately false information
- Use MakerBritain in a way that infringes another person’s rights
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect MakerBritain, its users or the security of the platform.
MakerBritain is a marketplace
Products offered on MakerBritain are sold by independent Makers.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, MakerBritain is not the seller of products listed by Makers and does not manufacture, own or dispatch those products.
Each Maker is responsible for:
- The accuracy of their product listings
- The products they offer for sale
- Product quality and safety
- Pricing
- Personalisation
- Order fulfilment
- Dispatch and delivery
- Customer service
- Returns and refunds
- Compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Maker Gift Vouchers
MakerBritain allows eligible Makers to offer Maker Gift Vouchers for use in their own MakerBritain shop.
A Maker Gift Voucher is specific to the Maker named on the voucher and cannot be used to purchase products from another Maker.
Maker Gift Vouchers are currently available in fixed values of £10, £25 and £50 and are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. The expiry date will be shown with the voucher information.
Gift Vouchers may be given to another person before they are first redeemed. Once a Gift Voucher has been redeemed and associated with a customer account, it cannot be transferred to another account.
A Gift Voucher does not have to be spent in a single transaction. Where only part of its available value is used, the remaining balance may be used on a later eligible purchase before the voucher expires.
Only one Maker Gift Voucher may be redeemed against an order. Gift Vouchers cannot be combined or stacked within the same order and cannot be used to purchase another Gift Voucher.
If the value of an order is greater than the available Gift Voucher balance, the remaining amount must be paid using an available payment method at checkout.
Gift Vouchers have no cash redemption value, cannot be exchanged for cash and no cash change will be given.
Where an order paid wholly or partly using a Gift Voucher is refunded, any amount originally paid using the Gift Voucher will be returned as Gift Voucher credit rather than as cash or a refund to a payment card. Any amount eligible for refund that was originally paid using another payment method may be refunded using the appropriate payment method. A customer cannot receive a cash or card refund for more than the amount originally paid using that method.
Use of Maker Gift Vouchers is subject to these Website Terms and any additional Gift Voucher conditions displayed at the time of purchase or redemption.
MakerBritain may restrict, suspend or cancel a Gift Voucher where reasonably necessary because of suspected fraud, misuse, technical error or unlawful activity. This does not affect a customer’s statutory rights.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, the individual Maker remains the seller of products purchased using a Maker Gift Voucher and remains responsible for fulfilment, product quality, delivery, returns and other obligations relating to those products.
Maker listings
We expect Makers to provide accurate and honest information about their products.
MakerBritain may remove or restrict listings that breach our Maker Standards, these Website Terms, applicable law or the rights of another person.
The presence of a product on MakerBritain does not mean that MakerBritain has independently inspected, tested or endorsed that product.
Accounts
Some MakerBritain features require an account.
You are responsible for providing accurate account information and for keeping your login details secure.
You should notify MakerBritain promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
We may suspend or restrict accounts where reasonably necessary because of suspected fraud, security concerns, misuse of the platform or breaches of our terms.
Intellectual property
The MakerBritain name, branding, website design and original content created by MakerBritain are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Makers retain responsibility for the content, photographs, designs, descriptions and other materials they upload.
By uploading content required to operate a shop or product listing, Makers give MakerBritain permission to display and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, promote and provide the marketplace.
Users must not upload or sell material that infringes another person’s copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights.
Reviews, messages and other content
Where MakerBritain allows users to submit reviews, messages or other content, that content must be lawful and must not be threatening, abusive, defamatory, fraudulent, discriminatory or deliberately misleading.
We may remove content that breaches these rules or where removal is reasonably necessary to protect users or the platform.
Website availability
We aim to keep MakerBritain available and working correctly, but we cannot guarantee that the website will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
We may occasionally need to suspend or restrict parts of the website for maintenance, security, updates or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Links and third-party services
MakerBritain may use or link to services provided by third parties, including payment providers.
We are not responsible for the content or availability of external websites that we do not operate.
Third-party services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability that cannot legally be excluded under UK law.
To the extent permitted by law, MakerBritain is not responsible for losses caused by matters outside our reasonable control or for losses arising from transactions between customers and independent Makers where MakerBritain is not the seller.
Nothing in these terms affects a consumer’s statutory rights.

Changes to these terms
We may update these Website Terms when MakerBritain, our services or applicable legal requirements change.
The latest version will be published on this page.
Continued use of MakerBritain after updated terms take effect will be subject to the updated terms.
Governing law
These Website Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Nothing in this section deprives consumers of any mandatory legal protections or rights they may have regarding where a dispute can be brought.
