About these Buyer Terms
These terms apply when you use MakerBritain to browse and purchase products from independent Makers.
MakerBritain is an online marketplace operated by Alan Nicholls, a sole trader trading as MakerBritain.
By placing an order through MakerBritain, you agree to these Buyer Terms.
Who are you buying from?
Products on MakerBritain are offered for sale by independent Makers.
When you purchase a product, the Maker shown as the seller is the person or business you are buying from.
Your contract for the purchase of the product is with that Maker.
MakerBritain provides the marketplace through which buyers and Makers can connect and transact but, unless expressly stated otherwise, MakerBritain is not the seller, manufacturer or dispatcher of products listed by Makers.
Placing an order
Please check the product description, price, delivery information and any available options carefully before placing an order.
You are responsible for providing accurate information during checkout, including your email address and delivery address.
You do not need to create a customer account simply to place an order where guest checkout is available.
Personalised products
Many products on MakerBritain can be personalised or made specifically for you.
You are responsible for checking the personalisation information you provide, including names, dates, wording, selections and uploaded images.
The Maker will normally create the product using the information submitted with your order.
If you realise you’ve made a mistake after ordering, contact the Maker as quickly as possible. Once work has started, changes may not be possible.
Images and files supplied for personalisation
If you upload an image, artwork or other material for a personalised product, you confirm that you have the right to provide and use that material for the requested purpose.
You must not knowingly upload unlawful material or material that infringes another person’s intellectual property rights.
Uploaded personalisation material may be made available to the Maker who needs it to fulfil your order.
Prices and payment
The price shown for a product is set by the individual Maker.
Applicable delivery charges will be shown during the purchasing process.
Available payment methods may vary depending on the Maker and the payment services available for the transaction.
Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers and may also be subject to their terms and privacy policies.
Maker Gift Vouchers
Maker Gift Vouchers are available for selected Makers on MakerBritain.
Each Gift Voucher is specific to the Maker named on the voucher and can only be used towards eligible purchases from that Maker. It cannot be used to purchase products from another Maker.
Maker Gift Vouchers are available in fixed values of £10, £25 and £50 and are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. The expiry date will be provided with the voucher.
A Gift Voucher may be given to another person before it is first redeemed. Once it has been redeemed and associated with a customer account, it cannot be transferred to another account.
Gift Vouchers can be used over more than one purchase. If you spend less than the available voucher balance, the remaining balance will remain available for eligible purchases until the voucher expires.
Only one Maker Gift Voucher may be used per order. Gift Vouchers cannot be combined or stacked on the same order and cannot be used to purchase another Gift Voucher.
If your order total is greater than the available Gift Voucher balance, you can pay the remaining amount using an available payment method at checkout.
Maker Gift Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash and no cash change will be given.
You are responsible for keeping your Gift Voucher code secure before it is associated with your customer account. Please contact MakerBritain promptly if you believe a Gift Voucher code has been obtained or used without permission.
MakerBritain may restrict, suspend or cancel a Gift Voucher where reasonably necessary because of suspected fraud, misuse, technical error or unlawful activity. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Purchasing or using a Maker Gift Voucher does not change the identity of the seller of products subsequently purchased with it. The individual Maker remains responsible for the products they sell, including fulfilment, delivery, product quality, returns and applicable consumer rights.
Buying from more than one Maker
If you purchase products from different Makers, each Maker is responsible for their own part of your purchase.
Products may therefore:
- Be dispatched separately
- Arrive in different parcels
- Have different dispatch and delivery times
- Have separate delivery charges
Delivery
Each Maker is responsible for preparing and dispatching their own products.
Dispatch and delivery estimates may vary, particularly for handmade, personalised and made-to-order products.
If an order is late or hasn’t arrived, contact the Maker who supplied the product. The Maker is responsible for investigating delivery problems with their chosen delivery provider where necessary.
Cancellations and returns
Your cancellation and return rights depend on the type of product purchased and the circumstances.
For most standard products purchased online, UK consumers have statutory cancellation rights.
Different rules may apply to products made to your specification or clearly personalised for you.

Nothing in these Buyer Terms limits your statutory consumer rights.
Faulty, damaged or incorrect products
Products must comply with applicable consumer law.
If a product arrives faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described, contact the Maker who sold it to you as soon as reasonably possible.
The Maker is responsible for dealing with problems relating to products they have sold.
Your legal rights concerning faulty or misdescribed goods are not affected by any exclusion that may apply to change-of-mind returns for personalised products.
Refunds
Where a refund is due, it is handled in relation to the transaction with the Maker who sold the product.
If an order was paid wholly or partly using a Maker Gift Voucher, any refundable amount originally paid using the Gift Voucher will be returned as Gift Voucher credit and will not be refunded as cash or to a payment card.
Where an order was paid partly by Gift Voucher and partly using another payment method, any refund will reflect the way the original purchase was funded. The amount refunded to a card or other payment method cannot exceed the amount originally paid using that method.
Refund processing times for amounts returned through payment providers can vary depending on the payment method, payment provider and bank involved.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory consumer rights.
Communicating with Makers
Please communicate respectfully and provide Makers with the information reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry or order.
Maker response times may vary because MakerBritain sellers are independent businesses.
Reviews
Where you are able to leave a review, it should reflect your genuine experience of the product or transaction.
Reviews must not contain unlawful, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, defamatory or deliberately misleading content.
MakerBritain may moderate or remove reviews where reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law or enforce our platform rules.
Problems with an order
Questions about products, personalisation, dispatch, delivery, returns or refunds should normally be directed to the Maker first.
MakerBritain does not replace the Maker’s responsibility for customer service or order fulfilment.

Marketplace availability
We aim to keep MakerBritain available and functioning correctly but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access.
Occasionally features may be unavailable because of maintenance, technical problems, security measures or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Privacy
Information about how personal information is collected and used is available in our Privacy Policy.
Information about cookies is available in our Cookie Policy.
Changes to these Buyer Terms
We may update these terms when MakerBritain, our services or applicable legal requirements change.
The version applying to an order will not remove statutory rights that applied when the order was placed.
Governing law
These Buyer Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Nothing in these terms removes any mandatory rights a consumer may have concerning applicable law or where legal proceedings may be brought.
